UPDATE: UEP SMASHED THE MARATHON!

Big congratulations to Jose, Athumani and Paulo who all ran in the Ruaha marathon – to a greater or lesser extent. Jose takes the plaudits for completing the 21km run. Go Jose! And we all hope to emulate him next year.

Thanks again to all of you who sponsored the guys.

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

Jose, Paulo and Athumani (all pictured) are running in the inaugural Ruaha Marathon in Iringa, for the Udzungwa Elephant Project!

To be more precise, they are running in support of the work of our friend and Masters student from the University of Dar es Salaam, Lukinga Thabit. Lukinga is carring out vital conservation work in an important and highly threatened elephant corridor linking the Ruaha and Udzungwa Mountains National Parks. Read more about Lukinga and his work here.

The current funding of our project runs out in October 2012, so we are appealing for private donations to keep our work going. Our target of £1000 will keep Lukinga and his field assistants working in the field until the end of the year.  Please click on this link to sponsor the guys.

Thanks so much for your help!
